These slugs need to be opened and acclimated into a fully cycled aquarium immediately upon receipt, just like any other livestock. They will not survive if left in the shipping container for an extended period.

These "Nudies" only eat Aiptasia anemones. If added to your tank, they will eliminate visible Aiptasia anemones over a few months. For faster results, it's recommended that you continue to manually kill larger Aiptasias with products such as Aiptasia X.

They are mostly nocturnal, so you may not see them very much, if ever. They will starve and die when the Aiptasia supply is exhausted. It may be possible to catch and remove some of them before they starve and give them to another reefer.

They are prolific egg-layers. You may see their eggs laid on surfaces in a spiral pattern. Reproduction in your tank is possible, however, the eggs and larvae will be preyed upon by your fish and other creatures.

ACCLIMATION

The slugs will be shipped overnight. Open your package immediately upon arrival. The Nudis should be adhered to the sides of the container and moving. (Claims for DOA - text a video within 2 hours of delivery.)

Acclimate immediately in the normal way - float the container for temperature acclimation. Gradually add tank water to the container using a drip or other method. Turn off the pumps before transferring the animal to your tank.

The Nudies are very fragile. The correct way to remove them from the container is with a turkey baster. VERY GENTLY blow water on the Nudi until it releases. Draw the animal up into the baster and place very gently on a bare surface in your tank where it can quickly find shelter.

You can place them near your Aiptasia, but not directly in the Aiptasia's mouth. They are social and hunt in a pack - place them all in the same spot. Predators of the Nudies can include certain shrimp, crabs and fish. They will hide effectively and survive in most tanks. Berghia Nudibranchs will not eat Majano anemones.
